Why is my Audi or VW aircon not cold?
The usual causes are a refrigerant leak, a compressor or clutch fault, a blocked condenser or a failed fan. A smelly or weak aircon can also come from a dirty cooling coil, also called the evaporator.
We check pressures, look for leaks and read the codes before explaining what needs doing. Our guide on Audi aircon not cold covers a common case, and our aircon repair page explains the process.
Why does my automatic gearbox jerk or hesitate?
Many Audi and Volkswagen models use automatic or dual-clutch gearboxes. Jerky shifts, hesitation when pulling away or a gearbox warning can come from aged fluid, a sensor or control issue, or wear inside the gearbox.
Fluid service intervals depend on the gearbox and the maker's schedule, so check your handbook and ask us. If the car has been shifting oddly for a while, tell us when it started and whether it happens cold or hot, as that helps narrow down the cause. See gearbox and transmission service for what we look at.
What other problems do Audi and VW owners ask about?
| Symptom | Possible area | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Engine warning light | Ignition, sensors, emissions | Stored codes, ignition parts, leaks |
| Coolant loss | Hoses, pump, housings | Pressure test, visible leaks |
| Oil level dropping | Leaks or consumption | Leak points, level, condition |
| Knocks over bumps | Suspension links, bushes | Joints and bushes for play |
| Weak or smelly aircon | Cooling coil, filter, gas | Coil, cabin filter, pressures |
This is a general guide. Causes vary by model and fault.
How often should I service my Audi or Volkswagen?
Follow your car's service indicator and handbook. These cars calculate service timing from use, so the interval is not the same for every owner.
Our European car servicing page explains what a service includes, and the service schedule guide gives general background.
Between services, watch the oil level and any warning lights, and mention anything unusual when you book. Small changes in noise, smell or feel are often the earliest clues, and they help us know where to look first.

Questions owners ask
Which Audi and Volkswagen models do you work on?
We work on Audi and Volkswagen cars, and coverage can vary by model and job. Send your model and year on WhatsApp and we will confirm whether we can help.
How much does an Audi or VW service cost?
It depends on the model and what the service needs, so we do not state a number. After inspection we give you a quote, and you agree to it before the work starts.
Can you service a dual-clutch gearbox?
It depends on the gearbox and the job. Tell us your model and year, and we will say what we can check and whether fluid service or a specialist is needed.
My aircon smells musty. Can that be fixed?
Often yes. A musty smell commonly comes from the cooling coil and cabin filter. We inspect the system, explain what is causing it, and agree a cleaning or repair with you before we start.
